| This song
was originally composed when I was the director of Toronto Suwa Daiko.
It premiered in the early 1990's at the group's 10th anniversary at
Ryerson Theatre in Toronto. This and my other early composition Shudan,
continues to be played by the offshoot group of Toronto Suwa Daiko.
During the early winters
of Japan, many horses are born and are kept indoors until after
New Years. When they take their first steps outdoors, the young
horses run wildly about the fields until springtime. This is considered
a good omen.
